6.0.0.1 The Provision of Rare and Exotic Languages at EVAMK
Except for the compulsory English and Swedish, the Espoo-Vantaa Polytechnic provides a selection of languages, which are seen as important for our students in their future profession. From the Finnish point of view, these are called Rare and Exotic Languages. These languages are on offer for all Espoo-Vantaa Polytechnic students, including exchange students, throughout the year.

The students are advised to contact the Student Information Office of their Department for up-to-date information.



The languages taught at the Espoo-Vantaa Polytechnic are:

Compulsory English, Swedish
"Rare" French, German, Russian
"Exotic" Chinese, Estonian, Italian, Spanish
 
Language courses for Non-Finnish Students
EVAMK also provides tuition in Finnish and Swedish for foreigners. During 2000-2001 there will be courses on offer at the Espoo College of Health Care and Social Welfare and the Espoo Institute of Business.
 
Finnish for Non-Finnish Students
Objectives
The student attains everyday skills in both spoken and written Finnish.
Contents
Practising the very basics of Finnish grammar, essential vocabulary in everyday situations.

None
Method
Teacher-student interaction, observing authentic linguistic surroundings, sociodrama.

Credits 1.5 ECTS (+1,5 ECTS Finnish for Non-Finnish Students 2)
