Finnish farming is based on a pure environment and sustainable use of renewable resources. Sustainable agriculture means that farmers use as little fertilizers and pesticides as possible. They use fertilizers only when needed. The climate in Finland is more unfavourable than in the middle and southern parts of Europe. This is the reason for the current interest in organic farming in Finland. Forestry plays an important role in Finnish farming. We have highly professional skills in forestry management and silviculture. Landscape Management has become an essential part of forestry activity. Finland is among the biggest countries in Europe by area and has five million inhabitants. This means that the population density is among the lowest in Europe. Therefore, it is essential to consider the livelihood of rural areas, where enterprises dealing with agriculture, forestry, environment, leisure activities and other services play a significant role. We emphasize production of pure products containing very few additives. Our focus is to assure domestic food production without damage to the environment, while maintaining natural diversity and ensuring responsible utilisation of nature for human activity. Our goal is to provide a high standard in educational services to comply with the needs of our clients. We take into consideration rising levels of required occupational skills demanded by the expanding regional and international business communities. We offer Dergree Programmes in Environmental Management and Rural Development. Our students will become confident professionals with initiative, who can succeed as independent entrepreneurs. The variation of landscape with urban areas as well as large forests, along with technological innovation has created a range of possibilities for agricultural activity. As such, we train professionals for various specialities aimed at preserving and enhancing the economic vitality of rural areas. Students have the opportunity to study and solve problems in real-life situations. |
