Polytechnics are considered one of Finland's strategies for success in the EU and the globalizing world market. The expectations are high from the Ministry of Education and the rapidly developing business environment which creates an atmosphere of academic and professional drive. In internationalisation, we set particular emphasis on our cooperation within the EU, as well as cooperation between partners in the EU and Central and Eastern European countries. The Espoo-Vantaa Polytechnic welcomes students from our partner universities to join the EVAMK learning experience. As Finland's second largest polytechnic, EVAMK provides students, whether Finnish or foreign, a multitude of options with regard to what and where to study. Within some twenty Degree Programmes in five fields of study, EVAMK offers a great variety of study modules also in English. The EVAMK curricula are designed to reflect the state-of-the-art in professional life within the national and international contexts, providing students with a critical, cooperative and developmental work approach. Visiting students are regarded as growing resources of cultural and professional insight for our institution, an ingredient that gives the necessary finishing touch to the EVAMK learning environment. In return, we expect the visiting students to observe the professional ethos of EVAMK. We look forward to all our visitors playing an active positive part in their new work community, even if they stay only for a few weeks or months. This handbook is EVAMK's third comprehensive Student Information and ECTS Guide in English. I hope it will help our incoming Erasmus students in tayloring an optimal study path from among the English language study offer or our Departments. I believe the guide will also serve the Academic Staff of Partner Universities as a more in-depth orientation into EVAMK and its learning strategies. |
