The objective of education in health care is for the students to develop their knowledge and skills in the area of health, interaction of the individual and the environment, and in various caring methods. Our graduates become qualified health care professionals who plan, deliver and develop health care services in the public and private sectors in both Finland and abroad. As health care specialists in the community, they promote and support good health habits and environments. In nursing education, the student gains a wide perception of nursing, health care and interaction with people and the environment. The programme aims at guiding the students in their development into independent, critically thinking, reseach minded nurses who are capable of working in changing and demanding situations nationally and internationally. Graduates are expected to have competency in providing sensitive and competent care and to develop resources to support and promote health. Nursing activities are based on humanistic values and scientifically based critical thinking. The Bachelor of Nursing Programme consists of basic, professional, optional and elective studies and research work. The Physiotherapy Programme is meant for students who are interested in fitness and rehabilitation, including promoting, maintaining, and preventing the decline of the functional capacity and creating resources for individual rehabilitation. The professional studies consist of modules such as Physiotherapy as part of the rehabilitation culture, Expertise in physiotherapy and Research and development in physiotherapy. A registered physiotherapist can work in communal or private hospitals, rehabilitation centres, basic health care and social welfare units, or have a private practice. Clinical studies in nursing take place in health care and social services environments both in Finland and abroad. |
